Study in Birmingham

Birmingham is located in the Midlands and the West of England. It is also the second largest city in England. It is about one hour away by train from London. Although Birmingham does not have the well-known scenic spots like London, it still has attractive places for tourists. When you get off the train, you don't need to walk far to see the Bullring Shopping Centre and Selfridges, which offer shopping and lovely dining options. There is also a large China Town next to the city centre, which provides Chinese food and supermarkets for international students to buy supplies. There is also Mailbox, a small and unique shopping mall, for dinner. Outdoor restaurants also give you a view of the Birmingham riverside at night. Speaking of Birmingham, very few know about the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter (JQ), which is regarded as a treasure of English jewellery design. There are more than 800 jewellery and jewellery design stores in JQ, offering engagement rings, wedding rings, and various types of jewellery sales and customization. If you want to buy the perfect ring, Birmingham Jewellery Quarter is the perfect place.

Recommended universities in Birmingham:

  1. University of Birmingham

It is one of the red-brick universities in the UK. In addition to the traditional red-brick buildings, the vast campus has a large amount of green grassland, and students can enjoy the beautiful environment of the university. If you want to study archeology, the relevant college has a gallery where you can see dinosaur fossils. University of Birmingham also has excellent academic credentials, ranking in the top 100 in the world, and holding Russell Group and TEF gold certifications.

📍Popular subjects: Healthcare and Therapy, Engineering, Law, and Computer science.

2. Aston University

Aston University is located 15 mins away by walk from the city centre of Birmingham. Although the campus is much smaller than the University of Birmingham, Aston University offers many subjects, and recently opened a medical school. Most of the university's subjects have placements, which allows students to hone their skills before graduation and is more conducive to future employment.

📍 Popular subjects: Business, Optometry, and Audiology.

3. Birmingham City University (BCU)

BCU traces its roots back to the Birmingham College of Art and is best known for its Art and Design programmes. The university's architecture is very attractive. Inside, there are plenty of IT support and studios to prepare media and design students with both hardware and software skills. BCU is definitely most famous for its Jewelry and Accessories Design program, which is one of the top 5 in the country. The leader in this field is UAL, followed closely by BCU. With nearly a century of teaching history, the faculty is undoubtedly excellent. The university also has a gallery open to the public where you can see the students' work. Since many industry professionals come and go in the Jewellery Quarter, there is a chance that students' works will be selected for display in other galleries.

📍 Popular subjects: Jewelry and Accessories Design, Architecture, Computing, and Art.
